Underground Art Mag... posted Dec 7th 2008, 1:26AM
So the other day after school I went to the first meeting for "Tapestry" our art magazine at my school. And we like started brainstorming for our annual issue and everything. The new members of the magazine set up (i.e. me and some other chick) got to look through the old issues and I have to say that I'm very, very disappointed with how simple minded and disappointing our art magazine truly is. It's a bunch of pages with different writing, and various brands of art work and absolutely nothing else! There is no text other then the artists' names underneath each piece of art work and the text in the table of contents and nothing else! It's something that even some interested in art would just glance at and nothing more!!
I've tried making suggests about adding some editorials about the mediums the artists have used, some brief written tutorials, and even blurbs about the artists. Though majority rules and I was out voted because apparently the people in my school don't like anything editorial mixed with anything artsie.
So I've run some ideas by my friends and we're planning on starting an annual underground editorial art magazine of our own. We all want to include the artwork submission like our school's mainstream magazine, but we also want to include: interviews with artists, blurbs about art programs outside of school, how to set up a fairly decent portfolio, writing techniques, art stores around the area, tutorials about various things...etc.
Though we also wonder what other people think about this idea. Like what the general 'look' of the magazine should be like, and any other editorial content you think we should add to it. So hopefully people here will help us out. c:
Does someone/a group of people have a crazy grudge against you, ChiChi? I was aimlessly looking through your gallery and noticed a lot of your recent pics have scores in the negatives with no explanation, and you obviously don't deserve that.
I concur with the dead president! Clearly you have no right making such outrageous claims - it is common knowledge that women cannot excel at any math more complicated than basic algebra (that is the one with the variables!) - and it is my honest belief that you should set your sights on a more realistic goal. Did you know that women have been making good money designing garments for the general populace for years? You could possibly even use the industry to meet a man who could take care of supporting you!
Oh my, you are sooo right. I'm only fooling myself by saying that I'm good at anything related to math, especially since it's just a struggle for me to figure out long division, let alone quadratic formula. You're right, I should just quit school now and start designing garments, then, if I'm lucky, I can meet a nice man, we'll get married, and I'll stay at home tending to the house. I don't know why I have not thought of this before, thank you so very much for opening my eyes, love.
(Your comment seriously just made my day, many thank yous for that. C: )
